Globally recognised as a great sporting city region, the West Midlands has an exciting pipeline of future sporting events coming to the region.
This is just a snapshot of the prestigious sporting events that have chosen this region to play host, making the most of its exceptional sporting credentials, venues and capabilities.
Hosted across the West Midlands in March 2025, and welcoming the world's best kabaddi players, this is the first time the sport's leading global tournament has been held outside of Asia.
Coming to Birmingham's Alexander Stadium in 2026, this will be the first time the UK has ever hosted the prestigious European Athletics Championships.
To be held in July 2027, the UK backed bid went up against six cities around the world. Birmingham won through its strong commitment to the welfare and recovery of serving personnel and veterans.
UEFA EURO 2028 takes place in the summer of 2028 in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. Villa Park in Birmingham is one of ten stadiums hosting matches during the tournament.
