World-famous West Midlands venue The Belfry Hotel & Resort will host annual sports-event conference TEAMS Europe in 2026 (17-19 March), Northstar Meetings Group has announced.

Following hot on the heels of the West Midlands successfully hosting SportAccord in 2024, the region is fast becoming a major centre for sports business conferences, with TEAMS Europe taking place in the same year as the Global Summit for the International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Sport (9-11 July, ICC Birmingham).

Neil Rami, chief executive of the West Midlands Growth Company, said:

“The West Midlands is at the heart of sport in the UK, with a track record of hosting successful business events, so it is fitting that one of the region’s world-class sporting settings The Belfry will host TEAMS Europe '26.

“Sport helps to put a region on the international stage and the West Midlands has consistently shown that it has the passion, infrastructure and expertise to put on a memorable and productive conference for delegates.”

Katie Niland, commercial director for The Belfry Hotel & Resort, said:

“The Belfry is proud to host TEAMS Europe ’26 in March 2026, uniting the sports-events community at a venue renowned for its sporting legacy. With our rich heritage and strong alignment with the world of sports, we are the perfect stage for this prestigious event, bringing together industry leaders to shape the future of sports tourism and business. We are thrilled to be part of the announcement and look forward to an exciting journey ahead.”

Jason Gewirtz, vice president and MD of the Northstar Meetings Group sports division, added:

“We are absolutely thrilled to announce that TEAMS Europe ’26 will be hosted at The Belfry, an iconic and world-class venue.

“Moving to The Belfry represents an incredible opportunity to elevate the experience for our attendees and exhibitors. With its outstanding facilities, picturesque setting, and renowned hospitality, we are confident that The Belfry will provide the perfect backdrop for meaningful connections, innovative programming, and unforgettable moments. We can't wait to welcome everyone to this exciting new chapter for TEAMS Europe in 2026.”

Situated in the heart of the country in Sutton Coldfield, The Belfry is less than 10 miles from the centre of Birmingham and is home to 300-plus luxurious bedrooms and suites, several restaurants and bars, events and meetings spaces, a leisure club and The Belfry Spa. The Belfry is undergoing an £80 million development project that includes an overhaul of The Masters Suite, its largest event space at 852 sqm, and the addition of 149 bedrooms. Thanks to its three golf courses, which include the world class The Brabazon and PGA National, The Belfry has hosted golf’s Ryder Cup four times - more than any other venue in the world.

TEAMS Europe takes place during a bumper year of sport in the West Midlands, with the 2026 European Athletics Championships coming to the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham (10-16 August), as well as staples such as Premier League football, Test Match cricket at Edgbaston Stadium, the British Open Squash and All England YONEX Badminton Championships.
