As an academic committed to the civic role of the university, I take pride in my university's dedication to its civic agenda. Through the Architecture course at the University of Staffordshire, we engage with our local community, focusing on the West Midlands' rich architectural heritage. Our studio briefs often involve live projects, allowing students to collaborate with stakeholders in Stoke-on-Trent, a city facing challenges due to underinvestment and devaluing of its distinct cultural and architectural identity. Recently, we hosted a symposium on collaboration for a sustainable built environment, featuring contributions from practitioners and academics, along with a three-part exhibition. This exhibition featured contributions from students, local and regional practitioners, as well as original work of Cedric Price. I'm delighted to be part of the Conference Ambassador Network and to bring more events to Stoke-on-Trent.
