As part of its commitment to recruiting and retaining the best up-and-coming and current hospitality talent, The Belfry Hotel & Resort, situated in the heart of the country in North Warwickshire, has signed up to the Hoteliers’ Charter. The Charter was launched in 2020 and exists to help raise the profile of the hospitality industry and advocate working in hotels as a rewarding long-term career choice.

In signing the Charter, The Belfry commits to continue to provide a workplace environment that is built on the foundations of respect, fairness, equality, diversity and opportunity; and to place colleagues’ wellness and career development at the heart of their operations.

“As a major employer in the Midlands, we are acutely aware of the ongoing recruitment and retention challenges faced by our industry”, said Chris Eigelaar, Resort Director, The Belfry Hotel & Resort. “These issues were exacerbated during the pandemic and because of post Brexit and to overcome these issues and ensure we have a robust and motivated workforce, it’s crucial that we showcase how the industry can offer a hugely rewarding, varied and long-term career. By signing the Hoteliers’ Charter, we are demonstrating our long-term commitment not only to support and grow our current team, but also to work with the wider industry to the benefit of all.”

By signing the Charter, The Belfry supports 10 commitments, including agreeing to develop and mentor employees while positioning hotel roles as careers, not just jobs; supporting the ambition to end low pay; providing a positive and nourishing workplace environment and culture for colleagues and driving environmentally sustainable businesses with a commitment to reduce, reuse and recycle, and champion the government’s commitment to be carbon neutral by 2050.
