Edgbaston Events, the conference and events business of Birmingham’s world-renowned Edgbaston Stadium, has announced a new partnership with The Sporting Club to stage events and create a Birmingham-based business hub.

Already operating in London, Manchester and Leeds, The Sporting Club is a membership-based organisation which uses the power of sport to provide its members with opportunities to work, meet and network, as well as enjoy and client entertainment at many live events with big name sports stars.

Through the new partnership, Edgbaston will become the first dedicated sports venue in their portfolio and members of The Sporting Club will be able to benefit from using Edgbaston’s newest conference and events suite, the 501* Lounge, as a weekly business hub and co-working space.

Maria Jones, Head of Conference & Events Sales at Edgbaston Events, said: “It’s fantastic that we can join forces with The Sporting Club, firstly to stage more events and to showcase our unrivalled food offering to its many members and event contacts.

“However, we also see this partnership as an innovative way to showcase our event spaces through the weekly business hub, which will be the first of its kind at Edgbaston, in providing a modern, spacious working area, with views of the iconic Edgbaston outfield for The Sporting Club members to enjoy.”

Already confirmed through the new partnership, Edgbaston will host a 10-year celebratory event to mark Birmingham City’s League Cup win in 2011 and it will also welcome Sir Ian Botham for a sporting dinner to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic 1981 Ashes series.

Ian Stafford, Founder and Owner of The Sporting Club, said: “I am absolutely delighted we are teaming up with Edgbaston to launch The Sporting Club in Birmingham at one of the world’s greatest cricket venues.

“It is high time The Sporting Club has a presence in the second city to add to our clubs in London, Manchester and Leeds. We can’t wait to get started at Edgbaston, providing a first-class lounge for our members to meet work, network and relax, as well as the very best events with the very best sport stars.

“I’d like to thank the Edgbaston team for their support and look forward to a long and fun-packed adventure.”
