The UK’s biggest event for the built environment, UK Construction Week Birmingham, has returned for its ninth year as the doors opened at the NEC for three days of knowledge sharing, innovation, technology and discussion.

Officially opened by architect and Channel 4 presenter George Clarke and championed by partners and sponsors such as HP, Northgate, Conquip, Oracle, Find It In Birmingham, CIOB, BMF and NFB, UK Construction Week (UKCW) Birmingham brings with it a ‘call to action’ for the sector to set its own agenda rather than wait for the government to respond.

With exhibitors from as far afield as China, India, Turkey and Latvia, UKCW Birmingham runs alongside two co-located shows, Grand Designs Live and Timber Expo, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2023.

Key features include:

  • UKCW Main Stage - used to take on construction industry topics, with a mixture of keynotes,

panel debates and case studies from industry leaders.

  • Seminar programme - details of the comprehensive seminar programme covering latest building regulations, the Building Safety Act and its implications, and advice on retrofit.
  • Robotics Theatre sponsored by HP, will showcase all types of construction robotic innovation
  • Future Lab - featuring ground-breaking and innovative products including the Exoskeleton from exhibitor German Bionic; a wearable device that can make users feel less tired and reduce the risk of strain injuries.
  • Infrastructure Hub - sponsored by Conquip Engineering Group, highlights digitalisation and improving quality and sustainability, this hub will deliver a three-day programme for those working on infrastructure projects of case studies, debates, networking opportunities, and keynote speeches on crucial issues.
  • Digital Construction Hub – sponsored by Oracle, the centre piece of innovation at UKCW. This hub will deliver a series of presentations and panel discussions including topics such as Information Management using BIM.
  • CPD Hub – sponsored sessions by Pure Vista, Blossom Mental Health Training, Quadrant (QAI Services UK), BP Collins, Lesniak Swann which includes over 150 CPD hours across the three days, features a world-class education programme delivered by industry experts, association partners, government departments and exhibitors.
  • Robotics Theatre From little robots on wheels, to exoskeletons and big robotic arms this area sponsored by HP Construction Services showcases the latest in robotics and automation from the global built environment.
  • Culture Change Hub - a focus on improving inclusivity within the built environment,

wellbeing and mental health and professional development.

  • UKCW Role Model Awards - celebrating the unsung heroes of construction, the award ceremony will be taking place on the main stage on 5th October.
  • Road map to Net Zero - This year, ZERO has collaborated with Natural Building Systems to create an exciting two-story stand that utilises leading ultra-low-carbon modular technology. The lounge, gallery and stand will allow visitors to connect with the change-makers who are pushing the industry to achieve Net Zero.
  • Building Safety - The extensive building safety seminar, workshop and speaker programme will run for the duration of the show, and will feature many of the leading experts and key voices in the industry.
  • Mental Health - another key topic at UKCW Birmingham this year is mental health. Anita Malster, Owner of Blossom Training and other esteemed speakers will hold several seminars focused on mental health in construction.
