Located in Perry Barr, just outside of the city centre, the Alexander Stadium is an international-standard athletics venue which hosted the athletics as well as the opening and closing ceremonies at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Capacity has recently been increased from 12,700 to 20,000 to cater for these international events. Home to the world-famous Birchfield Harriers Athletics Club, the stadium has hosted major events, such as the Diamond League series, including the British Grand Prix.
