The Crowne Plaza Birmingham NEC Hotel has unveiled a £650,000 refurbishment to its public spaces including the reception, bar and lounge area as well as installing some new locally inspired artwork.

The new multi-faceted public space will change the way guests meet, eat, socialise and work at the hotel with more flexible, modern and comfortable areas to choose from.

The brief to designers, Design Coalition, specialists in all areas of the hospitality sector, was to create an adaptable space to meet the needs of our varied customer base. Whether it be for a business meeting, providing a comfortable environment for the single business traveller or for relaxing with colleagues, friends and family.

Key features include air conditioning throughout, floor to ceiling windows, free high-speed wi-fi, a versatile dining space with a range of high and low seating, Sky & BT Television throughout and an E-Bar where guests can plug in with lots of power points and a wireless printer.

Design Coalition have introduced locally inspired artworks depicting elements of iconic Birmingham landmarks including the Bullring, Selfridges Centenary Square, New Street Station & Grand Central together with Birmingham Curzon Street Station, the heart of the high-speed rail network in the West Midlands.

Martin Woods, General Manager for the Crowne Plaza Birmingham NEC, commented: “I’m delighted with the final result of our refurbishment and proud to welcome guests to this impressive high spec space. The new and improved public areas will serve a wide range of needs, whether that is to get connected for business guests or switch off for leisure guests. The revitalised bar and lounge will also appeal to locals in Birmingham and networking groups in the surrounding area as a great place to meet up and hang out. Customer satisfaction is my top priority and already we have received incredibly positive feedback from recent visitors to the hotel.”

Whether guests are staying at the hotel prior to a flight out of Birmingham Airport (BHX), attending events at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) or Resorts World Arena, staying for business or leisure, attending a conference or meeting, or simply meeting up with colleagues and friends, visitors can spend quality time in the stylish new zones of the Crowne Plaza Lounge Bar.

The new Crowne Plaza bar and lounge offers a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, Starbucks Coffee, together with a new menu offering light bites, burgers & grills, main plates and classics, salads and sandwiches.

The Crowne Plaza Birmingham NEC Hotel is ideally located close to the NEC, just a 5 minute drive from Birmingham Airport (BHX) and only a 10 minute train from Birmingham City Centre via the nearby Birmingham International station. The Resorts World Birmingham, featuring an 11-screen cinema and casino, and concerts at Resorts World Arena are all a short walk away.

The hotel features extensive meeting facilities, with capacity for up to 200 guests across 10 versatile meeting rooms, with wall mounted screens for presentations and a large breakout space for networking. Other facilities include a fitness centre and thoughtfully designed bedrooms with executive work desks, USB ports and 24-hour room service.
