A Birmingham city centre bar, restaurant and entertainment venue has submitted plans to the city council to build a roof terrace.

The move could see the removal of the roor at the second floor level at Theatrix on Colmore Row and the installation of a glazed external terrace, along with refurbishment works.

Wayne Tracey, the owner of Snobs Bar & Nightclub, bought Theatrix in August 2019 when it was called Jailbird. The venue housed in a Grade II-listed former bank.

A planning statement reads: “The alterations would make the building and the spaces within it economically viable. The proposal has recognised that the glazed enclosure will further the economic life of the building, reducing the opportunity for it to remain under-utilised, one of the prime causes of deterioration in buildings on this nature.”
