While St. George’s Park is renowned as home to England’s 28 national teams it’s not only footballers who strive for excellence there.

The Hilton at St George’s Park aims to take its conference and events experience to another level, following the recent appointment of two dedicated Guest Liaison Officers whose bespoke approach to supporting event organisers is helping the hotel to achieve more than 35 per cent in repeat bookings.

GLO’s Hannah Lawrence and Lily Hassall are proving an unstoppable team, providing a seamless link between the hotel operations team and conference organisers to make sure every dietary requirement is covered, every room is up to standard - and even to ensure they have that morning cup of tea to start the day right.

The pair act as a single point of contact for clients all day every day their event is running, taking care of every small detail from tinkering with timings to gluten free cakes for that morning break. A proactive approach which isn’t going unnoticed by their conference customers.

Lily, the latest recruit to the Hilton St George’s Park team, said: “We call it the GLO experience.

“It means we are a sole point of contact for the client and we’re always on hand for them from the moment they arrive to when they leave.

“We always have a pre-event meeting with them over a coffee to touch base and check if there is any change in itinerary or timings, then it’s our job to completely take the stress out of their day as for many it’s the first time they’ve been tasked with organising a big event.

“Very often organising a conference isn’t something which is that person’s job to do usually, so a big part of our role is guiding them and making sure the little things are taken care of, like putting back dinner if a speech has overrun so people have time to get ready.

“We put ourselves in their shoes to make sure it all goes without a hitch, as it’s about being proactive rather than reactive and always staying two steps ahead of the event.”
One example of the ‘GLO experience’ for a client was the creation of a ‘Get Well Soon’ hamper when they were struck down with a virus on the day of their event, and the creation of a ‘gluten free’ food station for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Hannah said: “It was incredibly rewarding watching young people affected by this terrible illness having a great time and knowing that we helped to make that happen.
“Doing our job and doing it well means offering that personal service which make people happy, and sometimes that’s as simple as making sure they have that morning cup of tea which sets them up for the day.

“We’re very lucky to have such a beautiful venue and a wonderful atmosphere to work in, as the whole team here are so positive and as a result we’ve hosted some great events.”
The 330-acre site has hosted more than 8,000 events for some of the world’s biggest brands, including Nike, BT, Premier League, Continental, Molson Coors and Vauxhall, as well as smaller brands across the UK.

Event organisers also benefit from a hotel health club, spa, restaurant and bar lounge, meeting rooms, lecture theatre, state-of-the-art projection equipment and a high-speed fibre broadband mast on site – enabling visitors to access the internet wherever they go.
