Opera lovers are invited to a special event at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Saturday (October 17 2020), when singers from the avant-garde Birmingham Opera Company are to stage live, pop-up performances in the grounds.
 

After seven months in the online realm, soloists and duets from the renowned, award-winning company will be heading to the heritage attraction in Edgbaston from 11am until 2pm, where they will perform short extracts from some of the world’s most popular operas.
 
The opera company is known globally for its innovative and exciting productions, performing in spaces such as warehouses, shopping centres and railway stations, and it promises opera at its most basic, raw, powerful and fun when it heads to the 15-acre site in Westbourne Road.
 
James Wheeler, chief executive of the Gardens, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Birmingham Opera Company to the Gardens and are looking forward to them entertaining our visitors in a fun, and safe, way. We can’t think of a better combination that the beautiful surroundings of the gardens in their autumn glory and live music.”
 
The Gardens are open daily from 10am until 6pm, weekdays, and 7pm weekends. To ensure there is effective social distancing, everyone must book a time slot in advance: non-members must buy tickets online to secure their 15-minute entry slot, while members must also book their entry time online, using their membership number.
