About

Vintage Trains' home depot is at Tyseley Locomotive Works in Tyseley, Birmingham, providing an excellent starting point for the year-round steam hauled railtours to destinations throughout the UK.

Vintage Trains also offers The Shakespeare Express steam service between Birmingham and Stratford on summer Sundays, providing a unique opportunity for passengers to step back in time to the more elegant and romantic days of train travel, complete with a variety of on-board dining options including Sunday lunch.

Day Excursions
Experience the nostalgic pleasure of a day out aboard a heritage steam train, feel the rumble of the engine, the toot of the whistle and the smell of steam!

Climb aboard a Vintage Trains heritage train, for a full day’s experience departing from various West Midlands and Birmingham locations and to popular tourist destinations and seaside towns throughout the UK including the Welsh Marches, Cardiff, Norwich, Llandudno, the dramatic Settle and Carlisle line and York for the perfect day out for groups and coach tours.

All of these authentic heritage train experiences are enhanced with a high-quality dining experience, varied menus, and original Pullman coaches throughout the year from March to December.

Tickets from £99 per person excluding meals.

The Shakespeare Express

Choose from two return journeys - one in the morning and one in the afternoon:
Birmingham to Stratford and return
Travel outward from Birmingham in the morning for a day’s sightseeing in Stratford of approximately 5 hours and returning to Birmingham in the late afternoon.
OR
Stratford to Birmingham and return
Enjoy a round trip of approximately 2.5 hours from Stratford to Birmingham over lunchtime and in the early afternoon with options of Sunday lunch in Pullman class.
Both routes are easily combined with itineraries in Birmingham and Stratford, before or after the steam train experience.
