Two new conferences set to generate £2m for Birmingham
10th Nov 2010
The International Convention Centre has signed contracts for two international conferences which together are expected to generate more than £2m for the city’s economy.
Organisers estimate the European Peritoneal Dialysis (EuroPD) Meeting will bring 1,200 delegates from around the world to Birmingham in October 2011, while the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Europe’s event is expected to attract a further 800 in August the following year.
Catherine Newhall-Caiger, Director of International Sales, The ICC, said: “We are a venue with an extensive history of hosting events of the highest calibre, both from the UK and overseas and in the face of stiff competition these two conference wins clearly demonstrate our reputation for being able to successfully host a diverse range of international events.”
“I know that I speak for the entire team here when I say that we are truly looking forward to welcoming these events in the upcoming years.”
Margaret Sherry, Managing Director, In Conference Ltd, which is the core PCO to the EuroPD meetings, said: “We have held successful events at The ICC over the years for other clients and we knew that it would be ideal for the EuroPD meeting. One of its main attractions for us is the accessibility both from across the UK and internationally and we are now looking forward to what I’m sure will be a hugely successful event.”
The EuroPD meeting rotates between major European cities every two years and the Birmingham meeting will be the 10th in the series.
