Birmingham today unveils its national Christmas campaign ‘It’s got to be a Birmingham Christmas’ with plenty of offers, games and festive fun for visitors. Located in the heart of England with over 1,000 shops, Birmingham is the number one shopping destination to help fill those Christmas stockings. As the biggest retail centre outside London, the city’s Bullring shopping centre, the architecturally stunning Selfridges department store and the exclusive Mailbox are just the start of it. If you are after something that sparkles, the Jewellery Quarter will come to the rescue, with over 400 jewellers located in the 250-year old area famed for specialist hand-crafted jewellery, clocks and watches.

This year Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas market celebrates its 10th anniversary with its biggest market yet, boasting 180 stalls. No other city in the UK has been able to reproduce the size, scale, diversity and quality of Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market, which continues to be the world’s largest German market outside of Germany and Austria offering traditional festive treats including mulled wine, beers, sausages, sweets, breads and pastries.

Frankfurt Christmas Market (18 November – 23 December)
Winter in Birmingham brings the familiar sight of craft and confectionary stalls lining the streets and the mouth watering smell of roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and gingerbread in the air with the largest authentic Christmas market outside Germany descending on the city.

Winter Wonderland at Cadbury World (From 20 November)
Cadbury World will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland from Saturday 20 November. In the run up to Christmas, weekends will be packed with seasonal activities including jolly children’s entertainers, festive food and the City of Birmingham brass band.

Birmingham Royal Ballet – Cinderella at Birmingham Hippodrome (24 November – 12 December)
Ballet lovers will enjoy a new version of a fairytale classic created for the City of Birmingham in Birmingham Royal Ballet’s 20th anniversary year. Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Director David Bintley choreographs this spellbinding new production of Cinderella, which receives its world premiere at Birmingham’s Hippodrome Theatre in November 2010.

The Secret Garden at Birmingham REP (24 November 2010 – 8 January 2011)
Visitors to the REP this Christmas will marvel at the inspirational musical adaptation of everyone’s favorite children’s novel The Secret Garden – a beautiful story of adventure and discovery beloved by adults and children alike showing throughout December.

Spamalot at Alexandra Theatre (7 December 2010 – 1 January 2011)
The Alexandra Theatre doesn’t disappoint bringing audiences the Tony Award winning production of Monty Python’s Spamalot. Visitors are invited to enter the eccentric and bizarre world of Monty Python, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table with the most infectiously funny musical of the millennium.
