Meet Birmingham teams up with city partners for Confex
19th Jan 2011
Meet Birmingham will be bringing six partners to Confex, the UK’s leading conference for event organisers, at Earls Court in London this March as it continues to promote Birmingham as a leading global events city. Partners are Chiltern Railways, University of Birmingham, Think Business, Conference Aston, q-basemedia and the Radisson Blu hotel.
Meet Birmingham, the face of Birmingham’s conference and events sector, will launch the city’s new Conference Guide 2011 at the conference, which showcases the breadth of business and leisure venues available to event organisers. The UK events industry alone is worth £22bn annually, a market in which Birmingham enjoys a high prominence in the UK and abroad.
Ian Taylor, commercial director at Marketing Birmingham, said:
“Birmingham has an enviable offering for event organisers, and at the heart of this is the variety of quality venues the city boasts. A targeted presence at Confex provides an excellent opportunity for lead generation and ensures Birmingham continues to tighten its grip on the business events industry, which contributes to the city’s £4.4bn visitor economy.
“We are working closely with partners throughout the supply chain, such as train operator Chiltern Railways, and continually improving upon the experience that delegates receive in the city from arrival to departure. Our message is that Birmingham is committed to delivering first class events.”
The Meet Birmingham stand partners represent a cross-section of the city’s event offer and comprise of rail operator Chiltern Railways, which is due to complete a £250 million upgrade to its London-Birmingham mainline in 2011 and University of Birmingham, which has enjoyed national exposure as a major event host when it welcomed the third Leadership pre-election debate to its Great Hall.
Think Business, based at Millennium Point, makes delegates starry-eyed with unique events offered at its planetarium, while Conference Aston will provide 4-star comfort for guests due to a £250,000 upgrade to its bedrooms. Adding glamour to the line-up is the Radisson Blu hotel, the 39-storey glass skyscraper that glistens on Birmingham’s skyline and offers Italian fine-dining to delegates. And q-basemedia, a creative event production company, combines care, creativity and passion with meticulous planning to provide outstanding event management and creative services to events and conferences of all types.
