Boost in bed spaces with five new hotel developments

Birmingham’s hotel industry is set for a boost with the opening of five new city centre hotels by summer 2012.
The new developments cover a range of accommodation types and budgets, and take the number of bedrooms within walking distance to The ICC to nearly 6,000. The new developments are:
- bloc hotel – a 73-room boutique, budget hotel, set to open in the city’s Jewellery Quarter area
- Hotel Indigo – the 52-room hotel will open in one of the city’s newest developments, The Cube. It will feature a spa and be co-located with a new Marco Pierre White restaurant
- Hampton by Hilton – the 285-room hotel will be the chain’s largest in Europe, following a £30m transformation, located within walking distance to The ICC
- Travelodge – two new hotels in the Traveldoge chain will be opened in the city centre, adding just under 300 bedrooms
