Birmingham wins solar power conference
11th Feb 2011
The organiser of conference Solar Power UK (SPUK), Solar Media, has moved the event to Birmingham and introduced an exhibition element.
SPUK conference and exhibition will be held at the ICC Birmingham and will attract around 3,000 solar industry delegates. The event consists of week-long activities, with the conference itself taking place on 26 – 28th October 2011 at The ICC.
SPUK Operations Director, Joy Brettschneider said “Last year, when we held the event in London, we had a small area that consisted of 16 ‘table top’ exhibitors. But we received feedback from delegates and other companies stating that a proper exhibition element would be welcomed”.
The decision to move to Birmingham was decided by its central UK location and its growing status as a champion of the developing solar industry, according to the organiser. Birmingham has pledged to reduce CO2 emissions by 60 per cent by 2026.
“The ICC is a ‘green’ venue and Business Birmingham will partner with Birmingham City Council to host a week-long schedule of sustainable events, topped off by SPUK,” added Brettschneider.
