This May Bank Holiday (Sat 30th Apr – Mon 2nd May), join Black Country Living Museum for a weekend of Marvellous Machines as they celebrate steam power and industry. The whole family can discover what it was like to live in one of Britain's most heavily industrialised landscapes through a flurry of sights, sounds and smells. Visitors will be able to explore steam action as an array of engines, tractors, rollers and miniature Mammod models take over the Museum. Step inside the industrial landscape and see sparks fly as re-enactors use centuries-old techniques to skilfully craft chains and nails. Enjoy a rare opportunity to see the mighty Anchor Forge at work, with its one-ton hammer blow smashing into metal with a thunderous roar. When you see it, you won't be surprised that it produced some of the largest metalwork the world had ever known. Head over to the manufacturing spectacle to find out how bricks were made, discover the working of traps and witness remarkable steam demonstrations. Marvel over the display of vintage vehicles and find out how tug boats were once the driving force of the Black Country canals in the industrial revolution.
